If supplementation is needed, I believe choosing high quality and/or professional grade supplements are important for the following reasons. They:

• Usually contain the form of the vitamin or mineral the body can absorb and use best

• Third party tested (which means we can trust what the label says)

• Hypoallergenic

• Contain few non-medicinal ingredients (in general, look for 2-3 non-medicinal ingredients)

• Note: Lower quality brands usually contain fillers, binders, dyes, the cheapest form of the supplement (instead of the form the body can use). Usually they are not third party tested and/or hypoallergenic.

I don’t always recommend supplements; ideally we will obtain all of what we need from clean, whole foods however, this isn’t always possible. In some cases, a high quality supplement may help support the body back into balance.
